An Austrian flagship research project about the development of integrated smart LIDAR sensors for automated mobility

iLIDS4SAM is a flagship project for Austria´s future in automated mobility.
Automated mobility systems are presently moving towards more complex urban traffic scenarios. The FFG-funded iLIDS4SAM project will enable this transition by developing high performance, low-cost LiDAR sensors with increased field of view and resolution.

Project description

Within the iLIDS4SAM project we will develop low-cost MEMS-based LiDAR components and systems with wide field of view and high resolution. This will enable applications of automated mobility in complex urban scenarios involving vulnerable road users. To test the sensor, we will implement selected use cases and related validation tools.

Applications

Lidar sensors are key requirements for autonomous mobility, with a large range of possible applications. Within ilids4sam we specifically defined several selected use cases, including road and rail as well as agricultural applications. Test scenarios will be implemented and tested to demonstrate the practical relevance and capability of the approach.
